In March this year, we filmed SME entrepreneur Niels van den Beucken of the kitchen countertop company Arte from Helmond when he was on a working visit to India. With Niels' story we hope to inspire other SMEs to get a better understanding of the risks of child labour in their value chain.

Niels also did not have a good picture of the conditions under which his natural stone was mined in India, until he went directly to buy and found child labour around the quarries. From that moment on, he made every effort to take measures against this.

With the support of the Fonds Bestrijding Kinderarbeid of RVO.nl, Arte, in cooperation with the Dutch NGO Arisa, has set up a so-called Free Child Labour Zone around the quarries.
