25 - 26 January 2020 10:00 - 17:00

Did you know a third of all food is wasted? In the Netherlands, that’s about 5 million kgs a day. Then there is eating animal products, which is globally responsible for 14.5% of all greenhouse gas emissions from human activity. And we haven't even begun talking about food miles, unfair production chains & plastic food packaging.

JOIN THE FIX YOUR FOOD HACKATHON!

Want to contribute to a more sustainable food system? Do you want to work with experts and other change makers on a business idea that will actually be carried out? Join the Fix Your Food hackathon on 25 & 26 January 2020!

In a two-day sprint, you will develop a business idea into a concrete business plan. You'll do that in a team of people with different skill sets and an entrepreneurial mindset. You will get pitch training and brainstorm coaching, and meet & work with entrepreneurs and organisations from our Food Ecosystem, and pitch your business plan on 11 Feb during a special event with our Young Impactmakers community!

Got a business idea to make our food system more sustainable? Submit your idea! The best ideas will be selected for the hackathon.

If you don't want to start a business just yet, but are full of smart ideas and willing to lend others your brain power to solve food issues, just get your ticket on Eventbrite!

WHY JOIN?

  • Make an impact: the hackathon business plans are developed for actual implementation
  • Meet and work with industry experts from our Sustainable Food Ecosystem, or meet your future co-founder!
  • Either get valuable input for your own business idea or help (other) entrepreneurs develop theirs
  • Learn the latest on brainstorming, business model crafting and entrepreneurship
  • Improve your pitching skills during the pitch training session
  • All teams will get to pitch their business model during the Food Ecosystem Meetup in February!

THE PRIZE

The idea owner of the winning team gets to participate in Impact Hub's 3-month Business Model Challenge (BMC) incubator (value: €947) in April, with a partner! The BMC will allow you to finetune the business model you created during the hackathon, and get your business started. Supporting team members get to choose an Impact Hub Workbench skills training to attend!

WHO IS THE HACKATHON FOR?

Anyone who wants to create a more sustainable food system through entrepreneurship. You will be designing a business plan for your own great idea, or help someone develop theirs, with the intention of actually making this business reality. People from all fields can submit their idea for the hackathon: from designer to developer; from food professional to student. The only requirement: a thirst for entrepreneurship!

THIS HACKATHON IS PART OF OUR FOOD ECOSYSTEM

The Netherlands is the second largest exporter of agro-food products worldwide. What if we used this position to make real impact across the food chain and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable food system? In our Food Ecosystem, we bring together and strengthen relationships between entrepreneurs, investors, government, corporates and other organisations through events, programs and publications, such as our Pioneers of the Short Food Chain Report!
